My co-op
experience has been great so far, and I have not even been there a full
week. I hope, and expect that through
fulfilling this co-op requirement I am able to gain a better prospective of
what I can do in the future with my skills and abilities. I also hope to gain a better prospective of
what it is like to work in a professional environment. Before starting my internship in the
marketing department, I fulfilled my work-study hours with them. As a work-study student, I did not really
view the marketing department in the same light that I do now that I am
interning with them, I now see what they do on a day to day basis, rather than
when I would only go there for six hours a week. I believe that this experience will also help
me gain outside contacts, because business is really all about whom you
know. If I am unable to gain the
prospective of what I can do in the future and what it is like to work in a
professional environment, then I believe that I have failed at making the most
of this experience.
I expect to learn
what ever they are willing to teach me.
The marketing department handles most of the major publications and even
the minor publications that the university produces. Before starting my internship, I knew the
software they use to create their publications.
Even though I know the software, you can never stop learning, and I have
already learned more things, and simpler ways to complete tasks than I knew
before. I expect and hope that I can
learn all of the steps, and see a project through from start to finish in this
internship. The staff at the marketing
department has been very helpful, and I feel that moving forward I will learn
more than expected from everyone who works in the department.
I look forward to
what is to come in these next six weeks with the marketing department, and
cannot wait to see where this new adventure in my life takes me.

You have such a great outlook on the experience you are suppose to gain from your internship and I highly doubt you will fail in anyway at making the most of your experience in the marketing department at Holy Family. I am so happy that everything is working out great for you at your internship and I can't wait to read about what is to come for you throughout the next six weeks.
ReplyDeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why this didn't show up yesterday when I tried to post it, but I will try again! I am so happy that you have taken your passion for involvement in our University and put expanded on it even more. I have heard great things about our marketing department at Holy Family, and I can only see you making it even better. I am sure that you will learn a lot with them and you will definitely be of help to them with your great ideas. I admire your constant drive to make Holy Family a better place for everyone. Good Luck and I am positive you will do great!
Sara,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you, like me will never experience a dull moment. I share some of your same sentiments with my own internship in that I want to be a sponge and "soak" all the knowledge they are willing to give me and that I too am looking forward to seeing what these next 6 short weeks will hold. You always have great ideas and I am interested to see if a University department such as the Marketing department will take the ideas of a student to heart and actually possibly use them. Good Luck!
Sara,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great and I feel the same way about wanting to gain a better perspective with working in a professional enviorment!I like how you said that even though you know the software you can never stop learning. I completely agree with you and can relate. The marketing department sounds exciting and I hope you continue to get the most out of the next six weeks!
What else are you learning besides technological skills? Sounds like a valuable experience in learning how a marketing department works. Maybe you'll give them some ideas in how to better market the University!
